MarineEx 2010 Moves to new location & expands

Now in its 4th year the show will move to Portland Marina and the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy and become “MarineEx 2010 The Marine & Leisure Show”.

Show organiser, John Moyce said, “We have had three great shows on the harbour side in Weymouth but the show has now grown beyond what can be run effectively in this location.

Moving gives us far greater space to develop the land based exhibits in both sectors along with extensive pontoon facilities to increase our new & used boat displays. The move also gives us a large free car park.

We are also delighted that Lloyds TSB will continue in their role as a principal supporter of the show and are fully supportive of the shows extended guise.

There will be a lot of new features for 2010 including “Try-a-Boat”. We will have a wide range of boats on the water from dinghy sailing to keel boats, R.I.B.’s and several motor yachts with experienced crews for visitors to go out on the water.

Try-a-Boat” has been found to give people new to boating and keen to find out about the hobby an ideal introduction and the opportunity of trying other forms of craft with experienced boaters.

We will have trainers on hand, who can help with all experience levels from novice to international race standard and members from cruising associations who can inform our guests on this popular side of boating.

We have had several enquiries from businesses in the leisure sector to exhibit at MarineEx. Previously space limitations prevented this, now with the space we have we can extend the show to include exhibitors showing cars, caravans, walking, camping, climbing, lifestyle products etc. while maintaining the enjoyable feel of previous shows.

Combining the grounds of Portland Marina with those of the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy gives us the scope to turn this show into a major national and international event.

WPNSA will be giving guided tours of the venue which will host the sailing events for the 2012 games along with information on the various Olympic classes and competitors both past and present and what we can look forward to when part of the biggest event in the world comes to town.”

Dates for your diary are July 3rd & 4th Portland Marina & WPNSA, Osprey Quay, Portland.
